LAWRENCE, Kan. – By the time Devin Neal’s 42-yard rush took the game into the fourth quarter, the faces on the Cowboy bench were deflated.
Fifteen game minutes later, those solemn faces jogged through the jeers and traffic of another field storming and goalpost demolition.
Neal, Kansas’ lead tailback, juked and swerved OSU defenders down inside the 10-yard line. One of many instances. An OSU field goal had just cut the Jayhawk lead to three touchdowns, but that run at the third-quarter buzzer squandered what little hope remained.
All of the problems from last week’s historic loss 70 miles down the road in Manhattan made the trip with the Cowboys.
