GRAPEVINE, Texas — The College Football Playoff committee meets early next week to produce its first rankings of the season. The committee will decide if the résumés of Clemson and Michigan State trump the dominance of Baylor or the track record of Ohio State.
The committee will face immediate scrutiny that will only build until the Dec. 6 announcement of the four teams that make the national semifinals. And I'll know a little how the committee members feel.
A couple of weeks ago, I went through the mock selection process with 13 colleagues from all over America.
