Gary Darnell was an Oklahoma State linebacker from 1966 to 1969 who earned All-Big 8 honors his senior season.
Darnell went on to spend 37 years as a college football coach for 11 different schools, including stints as a head coach at Tennessee Tech, Western Michigan and Texas A&M (interim). Today, he serves as an associate executive director for the American Football Coaches Association.
Darnell, 67, currently resides in Austin, Texas, with his wife Sandra. He spoke with The Oklahoman to reflect on a variety of topics.
