The favorites for the Class 4A girls golf championship established themselves clearly at last week's regional tournaments; and again Wednesday at Lake Hefner Golf Club's South Course.
Stacked at the top: Plainview, Hilldale and Elk City, all teams that romped to regional titles.
And the competition will carry into Thursday's final 18 holes, with Plainview carrying a six-stroke lead over second-place Hilldale, followed by Elk City another nine shots back.
Plainview built its lead – as it has all season – behind balance, with all five girls shooting 86 or better in windy and chilly conditions that led to only five sub-80 rounds on the day.
