Chelsea Alexander and Darren Shrum knew they wanted to aim higher this year.
When enough donations trickled in on Monday morning to hit the goal, it was cause for celebration.
The Chilly Cowboy raised $50,723 for Special Olympics Oklahoma, just eclipsing the $50,000 goal. Money came from donations and a signed Malcom Rodriguez NFL jersey that was auctioned off on the court at a Cowboy basketball game.
Last year, the Chilly Cowboy raised more than $30,000 on a $10,000 goal.
“It was a big goal, jumping from 10 (thousand) to 50,” Alexander said. “But after we had a great auction, I had no doubt we’d hit our goal.
