Marcus Brown spent the first 9 ½ innings on the bench: running between innings to stay loose, watching the opposing hitters’ tendencies and being the team's hype man.
In the bottom of the 11th, it was Brown’s turn to be on the receiving end of the celebrating.
After subbing in as the second baseman in replacement of Max Hewitt an inning prior, Brown stepped to the plate in a situation all hitters dream of. The bases were loaded with one out.
This was his moment.
“Max [Hewitt] came and put his arm around me in the bottom of the 11th and just told me to control my breathing, be ready for the moment and don’t try to do too much,” Brown said.
