On Saturday, Oklahoma State was gifted a first down that it didn’t quite earn against Kansas State thanks to an officiating mistake.
Now, the Big 12 has responded to the situation, with Big 12 supervisor of officials Walt Anderson acknowledging that “improper first-down distance enforcement occured” during Saturday’s game.
From the Big 12 release:
During the second-quarter, with the ball at the K-State 45, OSU was flagged for offensive holding during a 41-yard pass completion. After the 10-yard penalty was marked off, moving the ball back to the OSU 45, the chains were mistakenly set for the yard-to-gain.
