The Big 12 enters the final week of its regular season with five bowl-eligible teams and another – the winner of the Texas Tech-Baylor game – guaranteed. So that’s six.
TCU can join the club by beating OSU, and Kansas State can reach the magic six wins by upsetting Iowa State.
But even if a Big 12 team falls shy of the 6-6 minimum standard, there’s an outside chance it could go bowling. There are 41 certified bowl games in Division I-A this season, which means 82 teams are needed to fill those slots.
Going into this weekend, 71 teams have qualified, and three others are assured via matchups of two 5-6 teams.
