TULSA – Oklahoma officially faces the elimination stage of its baseball season.
A late-season skid already had the Sooners on the brink of a season shutdown, but the Big 12 Tournament at least offered hope of a five-day hot streak offering an extension.
And while any thought of an NCAA Tournament bid required a Big 12 Tournament title, again, why not hope?
Well, hope took a hit Wednesday night, with Kansas State, which still carries a losing record – and the Sooners themselves – contributing to a 7-3 loss at ONEOK Field.
OU starter Jake Elliott lasted just two innings on the mound, and the Wildcats ultimately benefited from three Sooner errors for four unearned runs.
