TULSA – Oklahoma has officially reached the elimination stage of its baseball season.
Kansas State, the Big 12 Tournament’s No. 6 seed, jumped on Sooner starter Jake Elliott early, then took advantage of OU’s sloppy defense to post a 7-3 win Wednesday night at ONEOK Field.
With the loss, the Sooners’ eighth in their last 11 games, OU now faces elimination. And not just from the tournament, but in this season, which now stands at 32-26.
The Sooners take on the loser of Wednesday’s late Oklahoma State-West Virginia at 12:30 p.m. Thursday.
Elliott surrendered three runs – two earned – on five hits and a walk through two innings.
