HOUSTON — The University of Houston is an impressive place. If you haven't been there, if you know it only through its football team that in its heyday played off campus or its old Cougar High reputation as a commuter school, you're not ready for the drive up Cullen Boulevard.
The student housing and eclectic neighborhoods just south of UofH. The battalions of students, fitting of a 40,000 enrollment school, walking amid the campus. The new athletic facilities, built without the television bonanzas afforded the Power-5 conference members.
TDECU Stadium, opened in 2014, which is sparking and new, not as opulent as the new football palaces at Baylor and TCU, but still impressive.
