FRISCO, TEXAS — With a video board added to Boone Pickens Stadium, bowl banners hanging in the Sherman E. Smith Training Center and his assistant coaches receiving raises, Oklahoma State football coach Mike Gundy has knocked several items off his wish list in recent months.
There's more Gundy wants to see done, including a statue of Barry Sanders. Sanders, who turned 50 on Monday, won the Heisman Trophy as the Cowboys' running back in 1988 with Gundy as his quarterback. Despite Sanders' place in OSU history, there is little if anything publicly displayed on campus outside of Heritage Hall that celebrates his accomplishments.
