Averette requests release from OSU

Brandon Averette, a sophomore point guard on the Oklahoma State men's basketball team, requested his release from OSU, he announced Tuesday afternoon in a tweet.

Averette, from Richardson, Texas, averaged 6.3 points per game, 2.9 assists per game and 1.8 rebounds per game this season.

Averette tweeted his announcement with the hashtag "#CowboyForever."

"First and foremost I would like to thank God for the opportunity with blessing me with the opportunity to play for Oklahoma State for these past 2 years," Averette said in the tweet. "It has been a great experience on and off the court.
