Fans at the Greenwood Tennis Center held their breath as the score was tied at five in the second set. Each point was crucial.
Oklahoma State’s No. 3 Ange Oby Kajuru eventually broke the tie and took control, winning the match 7-5 against No. 33 Emma Charney from USC to advance to the second round of the NCAA Individual Championships.
Although set two included more tension, Kajuru began the success after being down early in the first set, but she finished set one with a 6-3 win.
“You can tell in a match when she really engages with her mind and she’s focused and she’s confident,” head coach Chris Young said.
