Colleen Sullivan remembers the conversation vividly.
What Miranda Elish said to her on Easton Stadium’s field, home of the UCLA Bruins, in 2020 was bold, but remarkably reassuring.
“She had just scored our first run,” said Sullivan, now Elish’s teammate after transferring in from UCLA. “She came over to me and looked me right in the eyes (and said), ‘I’ve got you. You do not need to worry about this game.’”
Now, with Elish set to bat against Texas, her former team, in the Big 12 Championship, she’s found a place – after a winding journey – where she no longer needs to worry about facing her past.
