When Karli Petty smoked a ball to left field that cleared the outfield wall and gave Oklahoma State its first two runs of the game, the atmosphere was odd.
There was that joy that comes with hitting a home run and getting on the scoreboard, but there was also a reserved note to the celebration — both from the players clustered around home plate to greet Petty and the bundled-up fans. The Shockers were still ahead by quite a bit.
OSU lost 9-2 against Wichita State on a chilly, windy Thursday afternoon.
The Shockers (14-3) jumped all over senior pitcher Logan Simunek and the OSU defense early in the game.
