Dieringer — a three-time NCAA champion and 2016 Dan Hodge Trophy winner for Oklahoma State — fell 5-2 to reigning World bronze medalist Akhmed Gadzhimagomedov of Russia in the semifinals.
Dieringer trailed 1-0 at the break after he was unable to score while put on the shot clock against the three-time Yarygin champion. At the start of the second period, the Russian rolled through a Dieringer shot attempt for exposure to take a 3-0 lead with 1:30 left.
