The Toronto Argonauts drafted Oklahoma State offensive lineman Shane Richards with the first overall pick in the 2019 Canadian Football League Draft on Thursday night.
Richards, 23, played both guard and tackle for the Cowboys until a groin injury forced him to miss the final four games of the regular season. Richards, however, returned in the postseason to help OSU defeat the Missouri 38-33 in the Liberty Bowl in Memphis.
Richards was the second ranked draft prospect on the CFL Scouting Bureau’s top-20 list behind Laval’s Mathieu Betts, who signed with the Chicago Bears last week.
