Zac Taylor is now the head coach of the Cincinnati Bengals, making the states of Oklahoma and Nebraska quite the fan of the beleaguered Bengals. Nebraska, of course, because Taylor was the Cornhusker quarterback in 2005-06 and the ’06 Big 12 offensive player of the year. Oklahoma, of course, because Taylor is a native son.
Which puts him in rare company.
I researched NFL head coaches over the weekend and found only 10 that were raised in Oklahoma. Out of 493 total coaches.
Taylor grew up in Norman – his dad, Sherwood, was an OU safety 1975-79 – and graduated from Norman High School.
