Zac Taylor is the head coach of the Cincinnati Bengals. But the first team he coached might not have been in football. And one of his first pupils was Blake Griffin.
Griffin was the featured speaker at our All-City Prep Banquet on Monday night at the Cox Center. Publisher Kelly Dyer Fry was going to introduce Griffin, so earlier in the day she asked me to look up how many times Griffin’s name had appeared in the pages of The Oklahoman.
It’s not an exact number, because a few other Blake Griffins have worked their way into our pages over the 115 years that our archives cover, but my well-educated estimate took the number somewhere north of 4,600 times.
