Editor’s note: Oklahoma Sooners play-by-play man Toby Rowland tells The Oklahoman why he loves sports.
My favorite place in the world as a kid was the left-field grass hill at All-Sports Stadium in Oklahoma City. I would ask to go to 89ers games for my birthday just so I could have ice cream in a mini-helmet and chase foul balls on that hill.
It was the greatest rush when a lefty would slice one my way and I (and 100 other kids like me) would try to quickly calculate the velocity, height and projected deflection angle.
