Some roads to the Super Bowl have twists and turns, ups and downs, even slowdowns and detours.
Damien Williams’ road had school-bus-sized potholes.
He was kicked off the team at OU, then bypassed in the NFL Draft. After four good seasons in Miami, he was injured, then waived, then signed by Kansas City, then injured again and again.
“A lot of people, they kind of run away from adversity,” Williams told reporters during Super Bowl Media Day. “I’ve never been that person.”
Clearly not.
On the day we pause for the unofficial holiday that is Super Bowl Sunday, Kansas City and San Francisco have lots of big names that we will focus on.
