NORMAN — Alex Grinch wasn’t trying to predict the future.
When he told Jalen Hurts at halftime of the Baylor game they’d tell their kids about that night someday, the Oklahoma defensive coordinator was being positive. The Sooners were down 31-10 at that point, but Grinch and the other coaches knew there was still time left for a comeback.
For all of the defensive coordinator’s prophetics, the mood was calm in Oklahoma’s locker room at halftime in Waco, Texas, on Nov. 16. No one was down or panicking. There was no magical message or fiery speech, just the same things the coaches had been telling the defense to focus on all game.
