Samaje Perine staked his claim in Sooners lore Monday night against Auburn, snatching Oklahoma's all-time rushing record from its previous owner, Billy Sims.
While the record one stood at 4,118 yards, Perine's new mark is 4,122 yards in just three years. Sims wasted no time congratulating Perine on Twitter.
After Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops finished his sessions with the media at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, he joined ESPN's Scott Van Pelt on SportsCenter to discuss Perine's record-setting performance.
Video over Stoops' interview shows the 18-year OU coach awarding the game ball to Perine after the Sooners' 35-19 win over Auburn.
