NORMAN — Almost a year ago, Joe Castiglione Jr. met his dad on the field at the Sugar Bowl and posed for a picture.
In between takes, Castiglione Jr. leaned over to Joe Castiglione Sr. and told him that next year would be different.
Next year, the younger Castiglione wouldn’t be in the polo and khakis uniform of a student assistant.
“Dad,” he said. “Next year I hope to earn an opportunity to stand over there in a Sooner uniform.”
As the son of OU’s athletic director, Castiglione Jr. had always dreamed of wearing an OU football uniform and running out out of the tunnel on to Owen Field on game day.
