STILLWATER — Starting early and getting out of the way before the weather got wacky on Saturday afternoon, UCLA charged to the top of the leaderboard in the NCAA women's golf championships at Karsten Creek Golf Club.
The Bruins set the Karsten Creek team scoring record in a women's college event, with a total of 9-under-par 279 — eight shots better than the record the 2014 UCLA team set in the final round of a regional.
That put UCLA at 3-under for the championship, with Alabama five shots back in second place. No one else was within 10 strokes.
