With the brutal weather of late and an increased focus on player safety, The Weather Channel invited me on Tuesday morning to discuss football practices and how teams are dealing with the heat.
I joined AMHQ with Sam Champion to discuss the issue of football practice safety in extreme heat. But after the interview, I researched the subject a little more and realized that today is the 20-year anniversary of a scary incident that happened right there on an OU practice field.
On Aug. 11, 1995, OU freshman Brian Ailey collapsed on the field, had a heat stroke and spent six days in the hospital.
