Tramel: It was status quo on Championship Saturday

The day started with anything but status quo. Texas beat Baylor 23-17, sending OSU to the Sugar Bowl and proving that there are limits to quarterback depth. A fourth-string QB is no way to win a tackle football game.

And later Saturday evening, when Florida took an early lead on Alabama and North Carolina took an early lead on Clemson, you thought status quo might be status go. But no.

Second-ranked Bama dominated Florida 29-15, then No. 1 Clemson beat Carolina 45-37, removing the difficulty from the College Football Playoff committee's decision-making. We know the four teams that will fill out the bracket — Clemson, Alabama, Oklahoma and Michigan State.
