Welcome to the spotlight, Iowa State.
The spotlight’s not always a great thing. The Cyclones, who play OU on Saturday in the Big 12 Championship Game, rose to sixth in the College Football Playoff committee rankings released Tuesday night.
And with that lofty ranking comes scrutiny. Committee chairman Gary Barta was peppered with questions Tuesday night about why such a high ranking for the 8-2 Cyclones, who opened the season with a 34-17 loss to Louisiana-Lafayette and also lost 24-21 at Oklahoma State.
