A sports marketing agent is going to prison and must pay $697,842 in restitution for making a former Oklahoma football star's charity his "personal piggy bank."

Bill Horn, 59, of Edmond, must report to federal prison by Feb. 5 to begin a 15-month sentence.

U.S. District Judge David Russell chose the punishment Thursday, rejecting a request for probation or home confinement.

"The crime went on ... over a lengthy period of time," the judge said at Horn's sentencing in Oklahoma City federal court. "You knew what you were doing."

The judge said he wanted the prison time to be a deterrent to others in charge of charities.
