Though far from perfect, Texas Longhorns may be in a better situation than some of their nearest Big 12 pursuers

After Texas got its sixth win a season ago at West Virginia, Tom Herman watched seniors like Poona Ford and Naashon Hughes enthusiastically celebrate.

"You know, I remember last year in the locker room in Morgantown, West Virginia and watching guys like Ford and Hughes and those guys, dancing around like we'd won the Super Bowl saying, 'We're going bowling! We're going bowling! We're going bowling!'" Herman said.

"And also thinking, 'Oohh, we got some work to do.'"

Texas (6-1, 4-0 Big 12) still has work to do, but the goals are much bigger. In sole possession of first place in the Big 12, Texas moved to seventh in the AP Top 25.
