The Texas Tech coach began the year on the hot seat, but the Red Raiders played well in September, beating both Arizona State and Houston, then taking OSU to the wire before losing 41-34.
But the last two weeks, Tech has lost 46-35 at West Virginia (after sporting a big lead) and 31-13 at home to Iowa State, and now it's not such a renaissance season for the Red Raiders.
Kingsbury is 28-29 in 4-1/2 seasons at his alma mater. Tech really can't afford to buy out Kingsbury's contract, but it also can't afford a third losing season in four years.
