Jerod Coker's first visit to the University of Oklahoma campus was a bit of a lark.
Growing up in McKinney, Texas, he made good grades, had scholarship offers and had never given much thought to going to college in Norman.

“I really didn't take it seriously,” Coker said. “I was just there for the free trip. I had no idea that I would end up feeling like, ‘Wow, I was so wrong about that,' years later.
