Tennessee Suspends Starting Defensive Tackle For Oklahoma Game

If the Tennessee Volunteers are going to defeat the Oklahoma Sooners this Saturday, they are going to have to do so without one of their starters on the defensive line. Junior defensive tackle Danny O’Brien has been suspended for the game, according to head coach Butch Jones:

O’Brien, a 6-foot-2, 301-pound Michigan native, has played 26 career games for the Vols and started in 13 of the past 14 games.

Jones didn’t specify the reason for O’Brien’s suspension, calling it a generic “violation of team rules.” He also didn’t specify a length for the suspension, saying he didn’t know whether it would be one game or multiple games, and that the important thing was working with O’Brien during the process.
