True freshman running back Rodney Anderson underwent surgery Sunday and will redshirt this season after breaking a non-weight bearing bone in his left leg in Saturday's 31-24 win over Tennessee.
Anderson's injury happened on kickoff coverage late in the first half. The game was delayed briefly while he was fitted with an air cast and carted off the field.
Anderson, a Katy, Texas product, was ranked as the 19th-best running back nationally in the 2015 recruiting class according to Rivals.com. He had one 5-yard carry in the season opener against Akron.
