NORMAN — Oregon hasn't exactly been one of OU football's recruiting hotbeds.
But the Sooners made inroads there Wednesday, picking up a commitment from three-star defensive end Nathan Rawlins-Kibonge.
Rawlins-Kibonge (6-foot-7, 240 pounds), had offers from nine Pac 12 schools and Tennessee and Nebraska, among others.
He's a three-star prospect, according to Rivals.
Rawlins-Kibonge is the eighth commitment for the Sooners' 2021 recruiting class and the fifth on the defensive side. Weatherford's Ethan Downs is the only other defensive end committed.
When Jamar Cain was hired as OU's outside linebackers/defensive ends coach in the offseason, it was thought he would give the Sooners a recruiting boost on the West Coast.
