NORMAN—Oklahoma gymnast Maggie Nichols became the third Sooner to earn the Honda Sport Award, it was announced Tuesday.
Nichols, the NCAA's vault and all-around champion as well as a part of the team championship last season, was a finalist for the third year.
She joins Keilani Ricketts (softball, 2012-13) and Kelly Garrison (gymnastics, 1987-88) as Oklahoma athletes receiving the honor, which is awarded by the Collegiate Women Sports Awards.
The Honda Sport Award honors the top women athletes in 12 NCAA-sanctioned sports. By winning her sport award, Nichols is a finalist for the Collegiate Woman Athlete of the Year and the 2019 Honda Cup.
