Oklahoma's Jonathan Alvarez redshirted last season and is in a position battle to be the Sooners' starting center this year.
But Alvarez is among the 58 players on the preseason watch list for the Rimington Award as the country's top center.
Alvarez, a redshirt senior, is one of five Big 12 centers on the list.
He's started 13 games in his Oklahoma career, including 10 in 2015.
