Sooners fall to Washington in WCWS opener

After putting up a perfect record through the regional and super regional, Oklahoma opened the Women's College World Series with a 2-0 loss to Washington.

OU will now play Arizona State in an elimination game at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.

The loss is OU's first in the WCWS since losing to Auburn in the second game of the 2016 championship series. It's also only the Sooners' fourth loss of the season.

Before Thursday's loss, OU was 3-1 against UW in the WCWS, including a 3-1 win last year.

The Huskies (50-8) got their offense started early as shortstop Sis Bates doubled off Paige Parker in the second at-bat of the game.
