NORMAN — Oklahoma defensive coordinator Alex Grinch is one of 41 nominees for this year's Broyles Award, which is awarded to the top assistant coach in college football.
Two other Big 12 coordinators, Iowa State offensive coordinator Tom Manning and Baylor defensive coordinator Phil Snow, are nominees as well.
The list will be narrowed to 15 semifinalists and then to five finalists before the winner is announced Dec. 10 in Little Rock.
Grinch's defense got out to a fast start but has struggled over the last two games, giving up an average of 44.5 points in a loss to Kansas State and a win over Iowa State.
