NORMAN — As new University of Oklahoma head football coach Lincoln Riley walked off the dais at his introductory news conference that also served as Bob Stoops' farewell Wednesday afternoon, President David Boren stuck out his hand.
“I have no doubts we made the right choice,” Boren told Riley.
Just a few minutes earlier, the 33-year-old Riley declared that he was ready for such a challenge, taking over for Stoops, who was a young assistant himself when he was hired in 1999.
“This came together so quickly, but I feel prepared,” Riley said. “I do.”
Riley first got the attention of OU Athletic Director Joe Castiglione in 2009.
