On November 25, 1995, the Big Ten football teams of Illinois and Wisconsin made history. They played college football’s last tie game. A 3-3 thriller in Madison.
For the bowl season that year, overtime was available and Toledo and Nevada played the first Division I-A overtime game in the Las Vegas Bowl. Overtime became standard the next season, and Oklahoma State played the first regular season Division I-A overtime game, beating Southwest Missouri State 23-20 on August 31, 1996.
