NORMAN — For months, Lincoln Riley promised a big surprise at Oklahoma's spring game, one worthy of drawing 80,000 people to Owen Field on April 14.
With recruits finally allowed to make campus visits the spring before their senior years, Riley constantly hyped the annual scrimmage in hopes of increasing fan attendance for the mega recruiting day.
On Tuesday afternoon, the Sooners finally made the big announcement, pulling back the curtain to reveal a pregame Trace Adkins concert, a Bob Stoops Statue dedication and an in-game Heisman Trophy presentation.
“It's going to be a new event,” Riley said on a conference call Tuesday afternoon.
