Report: Sooners' LB Caleb Kelly suffers knee injury

NORMAN — Caleb Kelly's career appears to have hit another roadblock.

The OU linebacker suffered a knee injury and is presumed to have a torn anterior cruciate ligament, according to a report from SoonerScoop.com.

The site also reported that quarterback Tanner Mordecai had suffered an injury as well, though Mordecai's was not serious enough to require surgery.

It's the second consecutive year Kelly has suffered a serious knee injury. Kelly was injured in spring practice in 2019 and missed all but four games in what was supposed to be his senior season last year.

But the NCAA's redshirt rules allowed Kelly to return, and he was set to be a big part of Alex Grinch's defense after recording seven tackles over the last four games of last season.
