Former Oklahoma defensive coordinator Mike Stoops is expected to join Alabama's staff as a defensive analyst or consultant, according to USA Today Sports.
It would be an off-the-field role for Stoops, who was fired from Oklahoma on Oct. 7 following OU's loss to Texas in the Red River Rivalry.
Stoops served two stints as Oklahoma's defensive coordinator, first from 1999-2003, and then from 2012-18. He spent eight seasons as Arizona's head coach in between.
Alabama coach Nick Saban has made a habit of bringing in high-profile coaches as analysts. Former Tennessee coach Butch Jones spent last season as an offensive analyst for the Crimson Tide.
