Presidents offer no support for College Football Playoff expansion

University presidents will make any decisions on changes to the College Football Playoff format. And the university presidents have affirmed their commitment to the current four-team format.

Mississippi State president Mark Keenum, chairman of the College Football Playoff board of managers, issued a statement Monday in San Jose, California, saying “it’s way too soon” to even know if expansion of the playoff is possible and that speculation about playoff format has “outdistanced the reality” of the discussion.

The College Football Playoff is run by the 10 conferences in major-college football, plus Notre Dame, with university presidents overseeing the commissioners of those leagues.
