OU's Bedenbaugh faces a fine line to become a head coach

NORMAN — Since Bill Bedenbaugh arrived at Oklahoma in 2013, he's enhanced his reputation both for recruiting offensive linemen and developing offensive linemen to the point where he was a finalist for the Frank Broyles Award as college football's top assistant last season.

Though Bedenbaugh was promoted to co-offensive coordinator after Lincoln Riley's ascension to head coach, there's a path Bedenbaugh figures to need to follow for upward mobility.

At Oklahoma, Bedenbaugh doesn't figure to take over play-calling responsibilities anytime soon with Riley making the decision to keep handling that responsibility.

That responsibility seems like a necessary intermediate step for Bedenbaugh if he wishes to become a head coach.
