NORMAN — Making her way to the floor of the Lloyd Noble Center on Friday night, Oklahoma senior gymnast Brenna Dowell looked up into the stands and marveled.
“The crowd tonight was amazing,” Dowell said after a program-record 5,082 watched the No. 1-ranked Sooners beat No. 2 Florida 198.325-198.025. “One of the biggest things I noticed was the seats up in the top were completely filled.
“We definitely feed off the crowd and it was so loud and there was so much energy in the arena.”
When the Sooners travel, big crowds are the norm, especially in SEC arenas where crowds nearing 10,000 aren't out of the ordinary.
