LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Oklahoma women's basketball team is approaching its NCAA Tournament matchup against Purdue Saturday like it's the start of a new season.
Seeded as the No. 6 seed in the Lexington Region, OU last played March 6, getting throttled 84-57 by Baylor in the Big 12 Tournament quarterfinals. The Sooners used the layoff to get away from the hectic pace of the first 31 games and do some searching from within.
"This past seven, eight days that we have had to practice for the NCAA Tournament, instead of preparing for the other people, it's been about remembering who we are and why we love to play and who we can be together," OU coach Sherri Coale said Friday before practice in Lexington.
