NORMAN — The Oklahoma women’s basketball team earned a No. 6 seed in the 2016 NCAA Tournament and will open Saturday against 11th-seeded Purdue in Lexington, Ky.
Monday’s selection marks the Sooners’ 17th consecutive NCAA Tournament berth under coach Sherri Coale.
The Sooners (21-10 overall, 11-7 Big 12) finished fifth in the regular-season Big 12 standings and lost in the Big 12 Tournament semifinals to Baylor.
Under Coale, OU has reached the Sweet 16 nine times, but its most recent trip to that round came in the 2012-13 season.
